Cruz and Tucker
I hope you will forgive the sporadic posts this month—and another cat story. The 31-day writing challenge, as well as our cat saga, has taken quite a bit of my time this month. Next week, I plan to be back on more of a regular schedule—including the second of my First Friday Fiction posts.
It’s official. We have two cats. On Tuesday, five weeks after his disappearance, Cruz came home. Apparently he decided that life on the streets is not what he hoped for. He acts as if nothing ever happened and is settling back into living life as a house cat. Except for being a bit skinny, he’s otherwise okay.
Now we have the task of getting two cats accustomed to living together. Actually, it’s more of a job to teach them not to be afraid of one another. Cruz is a very bashful cat—Tucker is still small, but I think he will be the more assertive one.
John phoned the first night Cruz came back to ask how our feline Bobbsey twins were doing. There were two sets of Bobbsey twins, but I’m in no mind to find a second set of cats! (If you don’t know who the Bobbsey twins were, you can find out here.)
Today, January 31, marks the end of the 31-day writing challenge. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I could go through with it, but I did. I’ve written every day and with the exception of two, I wrote 500 words or more. They challenge has shown me I can write every day. It taught me to focus and be intentional about writing. And, if you are a writer, Jeff plans to continue it into February, so it’s not too late to get started.
As I said, I’ll be back to a regular posting schedule next week. But for now, I’ll get back to taking care of my two cats.

So glad Cruz is home and he and Tucker are getting to know each other! Also, great job succeeding at the 500 word challenge! Way to go! It is amazing what we can do when we set our minds to it!

La, Edel might have to come and straighten these cats out (at least Tucker.) He’s a bundle of energy and Cruz is trying to recover from his ordeal. But we did have a happy ending.
What a great achievement Joan, well done. Im glad your cat came back too, I was worried for him. My kids would be lost without their kitties.
Kath, I finished the month with over 23000 words. I might even do NaNoWriMo this year!
My husband and I are happy the cat is home. After him being gone so long, we thought we’d never see him again. He doesn’t even attempt to go near the outside doors now! I think he learned a lesson.

We’re glad he’s home too. We never expected to see him again, especially after him being gone so long. He was a prodigal once before (came back after one night outside). I wrote a short story about his prodigal ways. I’ve thought about writing something about his adventures (and Tuckers). Could be a children’s book.
I did write a very rough first draft of a short book during this 31 days. It’s a follow-up to my free book, Dare to Dream. It needs a lot of editing!
