Changes are inevitable. Some are expected, others are sudden. Just as we have four seasons, there are seasons in life. My husband works evening shift during the school year and that means I have to adjust to him not being here. Most of the time, I don’t have a problem but this time I did. I enjoyed this summer – probably more than I have in the past few years. We did a lot of fun things together and even though he’s a TV watcher, I was able to tune it out and do some writing in the evenings.
So, can I confess to being a little melancholy? Even the cats had to adjust. Tucker, our oldest cat, was beside himself at bedtime because my husband wasn’t here. It took a few days, but I’m into the new routine and so are the kitties.
The photo? Not even one of my own, but the vinyl record seemed to fit the title of this post. Since I started a draft post two weeks ago, I already had some links embedded. I decided to leave them, so consider it a bonus to get extra links. 🙂

I can understand your melancholy, Joan. Glad you’re getting over the hump. Thanks for the links. Have a great weekend 😊
You too, Harmony! I’m usually a positive person but this year has been hard in many ways. But I’m “getting back in my groove.”

Joan’s writing links!
Thanks for the reblog!
🙂
I feel you. I was just telling the missus yesterday how ironic it is that we seem to spend half of our life looking for our perfect match, only to end up spending no more than a couple of waking hours together at best!
Most of our married life we’ve worked different shifts. You’d think I would be used to it by now.
It’s been a tough year all around. Looks like several in my circle of friends are making adjustments.
I thought 2017 was rough but this year had brought lots of challenges n
18 has just been a grind. I did finish a pretty good story though, so there’s that.
You’re ahead of me. I have t even completed a short story this year.
I need to get four blog length micros done by the end of September. Where has that Muse gotten to?
I can never get over how much our lives and interests (and misfortunes) parallel each other. Sorry about John’s schedule change. Glad you and the kitties have adjusted.
Great links. Thanks for including mine. (I had a two-weeks-of-links post last week!)
Amazing isn’t it? I think we must be twins separated at birth. Of course I’m the much older twin! LOL
Eh, God doesn’t measure time like we do. Twins, it is. 🙂
I’m so sorry summer wasn’t longer giving you and John had more time together. It must be a hard adjustment but I know you and the kitties will rally. 🙂 Before my husband retired, he’d occasionally have to do back-to-back shifts and Onyx (my kitty at the time) used to be as discombobulated as I was!
Those kitties! They are creatures of habit and don’t like changes. We are adjusting. Tucker is still very happy when John gets home at night.
