Hey, everyone. It’s Tuesday and time for another book review. Occasionally you “stumble” upon a good book by accident. Such was the case for me with The Guilty Husband.

Blurb

It only takes one lie to destroy a marriage.

THE PERFECT HUSBAND…

Vince Taylor has everything he could dream of. He’s the CEO of a tech firm in New York City, owns a beautiful home, and most importantly, he is married to Nicole – the woman who stole his heart the first moment he set eyes on her. Together they have built the perfect life.

ONE GUILTY SECRET

But when Layla, a stunning young intern at Vince’s company is found dead, all eyes are suddenly on him. Vince has a secret that threatens to tear their perfect world apart…

He was having an affair with Layla. And he’ll do anything to cover his tracks.

DO YOU BELIEVE HIM?

When the police discover Vince lied about their relationship, they are convinced they have found Layla’s killer.

If Vince kept quiet about the affair… what else is he guilty of?

My Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I learned of The Guilty Husband through BookBub and decided to purchase a copy. I’m glad I did. It may turn out to be my favorite book this year.

Vince Taylor is the CEO of a high-profile tech company in New York City. He lives a life many people dream of—a fancy home, a penthouse apartment, and a wife whom he adores. But all is not rosy in their lives.

Nicole Taylor is unable to conceive a child, and it puts a strain on their marriage. Enter Layla, a young intern at Vince’s company. It’s not long before she and Vince begin having an affair. Then, someone murders her.

When Vince lies to the police, first about how well he knew Layla, and second regarding his whereabouts the night of her murder, he becomes the prime suspect. He swears he didn’t kill her, but can he be trusted?

Or maybe the better question is who can Vince trust? Someone is going to great lengths to make him look guilty by sending anonymous tips to a local tabloid. He begins to doubt his best friend and attorney, Jeff. When Vince hires a private detective, he soon learns that Layla was not the person she appeared to be.

There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. It wasn’t until I finished the book that I learned this was the author’s debut novel. Kudos to Ms. DeCarolis for a job well done. I will certainly be looking for future works.

  1. I remember seeing this one and thought I bought it. I just checked and didn’t, but your review has me thinking I need to correct that. Yikes! At this rate I will never make a dent in my TBR.

    Fantastic review, Joan!

    • I thought she did well. Some readers were critical, but I didn’t see any blatant mistakes. Perhaps I was too caught up in the story. 🙂 I’ll definitely look for future books of hers.

I love hearing from readers. Let's talk!
