Hey, everyone. I’ve made it a point to read more books this year. (Trying to whittle down that TBR list, but it continues to grow.) I have several reviews to post, and since I already had one scheduled for this week, I didn’t want to wait to share this one.
My only problem with The Vanished Boy is that I didn’t want to put it down. Not a good idea to start reading when you have your own WIP to finish. Needless to say, I didn’t get a lot of work done. š
Blurb
Itās so remote out here. Anything could happen …
A missed phone call in the night is all it takes.
When Caroleās 18-year-old son goes missing, she breaks into Jaydenās laptop to try to understand his life.
All too soon, Carole discovers just how little she knew her boy.
And when one lead after another dead-ends, the distraught mother has to face the unthinkable.
Sucked into a sticky web of deceit and lies, nothing is as it seems.
When your life turns inside out and upside down, who would you trust?
My Review
This one will keep you on the edge of your seat. Harmony Kent delivers a powerful story that touches on the potential dangers of engaging in social media.
Carole is a single mother, having lost her husband to cancer seven years earlier. Her son Jayden, now eighteen, is a bit of a loner and they donāt talk about the loss of his father. When she receives a cryptic message and realizes Jayden didnāt return home from a party, she seeks help from the local police.
But Carole doesnāt stop there. She breaks into her sonās laptop in hopes of discovering clues that will lead her to him. She finds things that lead her to believe she didnāt know her son at all. Despite clues to the contrary, Carole refuses to believe Jayden is dead.
Part mystery, part suspense, and a bit of psychological fiction, this book has a well-written plot with the right amount of clues. I would love to see more stories like this one from the author.
A solid five stars.

A wonderful review for Harmony. I loved The Vanished Boy as well and have my fingers crossed she continues to write in this genre. She delivered an awesome story!
I think we need to “encourage” her. š This was an amazing story.

Thanks so much, Mae š
I have others ahead of this one, but intend to read it. It’s getting great reviews.
It’s a good one!
Yay! Thanks so much, Craig š
A fantastic review, Joan, and I completely agree. This one was a nail-biter! Harmony not only showed me Carol’s agony, but she also put me in the middle of it with her! Thank you for sharing!
She did a fantastic job. I don’t have children, but I could feel Carole’s anguish. And the part when she woke up to discover her hair had been cut sent shivers down my spine.
Exactly! That was when I was sure someone was coming in, but she did such a great job of keeping the identity of the villain hidden.
She did. I suspected at least two or three people.
Iām so happy you enjoyed The Vanished Boy so much! Thanks, Jan š
Super review, Joan. Congratulations to Harmony.
