Hey, everyone. Hope your week has been going well. Itโs Thursday, so time for more of my random thoughts.
I like to keep a count of the number of words I write every day. I have an Excel spreadsheet where I record my daily count. I have formulas set so that it gives me a month-to-date count and an annual total.
I also have a personal goal of writing a minimum of 500 words per day (except for Sundays). I donโt always make it but itโs encouraging to see how many words I can write.
With an increased blogging schedule as well as my commitment to Story Empire, I can ill-afford to neglect writing. Not only that, but Iโm planning a new series of novels as well as a collection of short stories. However, the past few days this has been my word count:
Doesnโt look good, does it? But there is a reason.
Those of you who have followed my blog for a while, you know I like to change things up every once in a while. (Sherrey, are you reading this?)
For some time, I wanted to make my website look more professional. Last year, I decided to make the blog and website look virtually identical, so I settled on a free WordPress template for my blog and website. Unless you noticed URL, most probably wouldnโt realize I had two sites. A few days ago, thanks to Mae Clair, I found a template that I absolutely loved.
Iโve spent the last few days redesigning. The blog is the same except for a new header and some color changes. Iโm pleased with the results. So without further ado, click here to see my websiteโs new look.
While your there, you can check out my book pages, sign up for my newsletter (which Iโm going to revise in the near future), or learn thirteen random things about me.
And since itโs Thursday, Iโll share an โappropriateโ video for your enjoyment.

Nice new look, Joan. Good luck with your plans and projects ๐
Thanks, Harmony. I just realized I need to make new headers for Twitter and Facebook. The tasks are never-ending!
The header image is really cool. The colors are pleasing. Nice new look!
Thank you, Priscilla! I’m pleased with the end result. I don’t think I’ll be changing anything for a while!.
The website looks great. You did a very nice job. This is one of my favorite David Bowie songs. I bought the album (Yes, I said album) based on this song.
I just updated my website earlier this year. It’s a daunting task. I like it, but I like change too. I have been toying with the idea of making my blog separate from my website, but I haven’t decided if I am ready to redesign again. Oh, the life of an author.
Thanks, Michele. Itโs a never ending list of things to do. I like having the separate blog as itโs easier to get followers.
My brother had the Changes album. Lots of good songs. I have it on a Spotify playlist.
I’ve had the same theme since day one on my blog. It allows for all kinds of customization, so I keep it. It’s nearly October, and with a new book out, it’s about time for me to “turn and face the strange.” Your upgrades look nice.
Thanks, Craig. I guess Iโm a restless spirit. After putting in this much work, Iโm not apt to change anything soon.
I love the header image, Joan. Off to check out the new website!
Thinks, Teri!
Both sites look terrific, Joan, and yep, now I know at a glance where I am! (Something I wish I could say about my daily routine! ๐ ) Super job! ๐ <3
Thanks, Marcia. Yeah, wish I always know where I am or where Iโm going. LOL.
LOVED this post!
Thank you, Rae!
Great song! I’m heading over to check out your new site:)
Thank you, Denise!

Congrats, Joan! I love the new website!! Great job!
Thank you, Jan!
Changes are good. For me I need a new picture. I think my cat, Flash, photo-bombing me has been on long enough.
Looks good to me. You can’t go wrong with a cat!
