Hey, everyone. Hope your week has been going well. Itโ€™s Thursday, so time for more of my random thoughts.

I like to keep a count of the number of words I write every day. I have an Excel spreadsheet where I record my daily count. I have formulas set so that it gives me a month-to-date count and an annual total.

I also have a personal goal of writing a minimum of 500 words per day (except for Sundays). I donโ€™t always make it but itโ€™s encouraging to see how many words I can write.

With an increased blogging schedule as well as my commitment to Story Empire, I can ill-afford to neglect writing. Not only that, but Iโ€™m planning a new series of novels as well as a collection of short stories. However, the past few days this has been my word count:

Doesnโ€™t look good, does it? But there is a reason.

Those of you who have followed my blog for a while, you know I like to change things up every once in a while. (Sherrey, are you reading this?)

For some time, I wanted to make my website look more professional. Last year, I decided to make the blog and website look virtually identical, so I settled on a free WordPress template for my blog and website. Unless you noticed URL, most probably wouldnโ€™t realize I had two sites. A few days ago, thanks to Mae Clair, I found a template that I absolutely loved.

Iโ€™ve spent the last few days redesigning. The blog is the same except for a new header and some color changes. Iโ€™m pleased with the results. So without further ado, click here to see my websiteโ€™s new look.

While your there, you can check out my book pages, sign up for my newsletter (which Iโ€™m going to revise in the near future), or learn thirteen random things about me.

And since itโ€™s Thursday, Iโ€™ll share an โ€œappropriateโ€ video for your enjoyment.

  1. The website looks great. You did a very nice job. This is one of my favorite David Bowie songs. I bought the album (Yes, I said album) based on this song.

I just updated my website earlier this year. It’s a daunting task. I like it, but I like change too. I have been toying with the idea of making my blog separate from my website, but I haven’t decided if I am ready to redesign again. Oh, the life of an author.

    • Thanks, Michele. Itโ€™s a never ending list of things to do. I like having the separate blog as itโ€™s easier to get followers.

My brother had the Changes album. Lots of good songs. I have it on a Spotify playlist.

  2. I’ve had the same theme since day one on my blog. It allows for all kinds of customization, so I keep it. It’s nearly October, and with a new book out, it’s about time for me to “turn and face the strange.” Your upgrades look nice.

  3. Both sites look terrific, Joan, and yep, now I know at a glance where I am! (Something I wish I could say about my daily routine! ๐Ÿ˜€ ) Super job! ๐Ÿ™‚ <3

I love hearing from readers. Let's talk!
