Hey everyone. Yes, I know this was going to be the week (month) where I began posting two or three times a week. Of course, I didn’t get anything prepared.
Last night, I was going through some old photos in search of ones I might use for the covers of my new series. No, the first book isn’t finished, and yes, I’m already brainstorming the other three.
Anyhow, I found a few vacation pictures. Since we won’t be making a trip this year (if I travel out of state, I would have to quarantine for fourteen days before I go back to work), I thought I’d share a few photos from past trips.
The Window – Chisos Mountains, Big Bend National Park
In 2013, we visited Big Bend National Park and stayed in the Chisos Mountain Lodge. The sites were incredible, including the one above. I have an unfinished novel that I worked on during that trip. Maybe I’ll dust it off one day.
Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Palo Duro Canyon is just south of Amarillo, Texas. It’s the second-longest in the United States, behind Grand Canyon. We visited there in 2011 and even took in an outdoor play.

It’s hard to pick just one photo from our 2012 Alaska trip since I took over 900. Our seven-day cruise began in Seattle with stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, British Columbia. It was almost 9:30 p.m. when I took this shot.
Looking down from Little Round Top, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
I only took around 600 pics during our 2015 trip to Virginia, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. We traveled over 3000 miles through eight states. Most of the photos were taken inside museums, but in keeping with the outdoor theme, I selected this one from Gettysburg National Military Park.
The good life!
Broken Bow, Oklahoma is about a three-hour drive. it’s a nice place to kick back and relax. We always rent a cabin. Our last trip there was in 2018.

Hey, I’ve been to Palo Duro Canyon! Saw the Texas play there. It was really neat.
We loved the play! Even my husband did and he’s not fond of musicals.
Gorgeous photos! Like you, hubby and I have cancelled any vacations away we had planned. We’re in ‘wait-and-see’ mode right now.
I’ve been so slow for ages now and am way behind on everything. I finally got my latest book of erotic short romance fiction finished … yay! (only a few months later than I’d planned, lols).

Everything has been crazy this year. I had planned to have both a short story and a novel published by this time. Didn’t happen, of course.
It’s always fun to look through old photos. Especially photos of places where treasured memories were made.
Now I’m interested in the trunk novel you might dust off…

It is a natural formation. It’s either called Castle Peak or The Lighthouse. There are two similar formations.
It’s fabulous! I think it looks more like a lighthouse, though I’d love to see the other one. Terrific photos! 🙂
Wonderful pics, Joan! Hubby and I would love to tour through several states, but both of us hate driving, lol.
I love road trips but the driving does get old.
These are fantastic photos, Joan! The Chisos Mountains in Big Bend is one of my favorite places. It’s got some kind of unseen magic. 🙂 And Broken Bow is another fave for the family to go for a quick getaway. I’ve never yet been to Alaska, but would love to go. Thank you for sharing!
We enjoyed Alaska. Wouldn’t want to live there but nice to visit. We loved the Chisos Mountains. Crossed the Rio Grande in a row boat. Sure was glad to get back on the Texas side.
I miss traveling and seeing all the amazing places available. Married life isn’t for the faint of heart. We usually have to afford something in state these days, but it is a beautiful state. I’m fortunate to have a lot of memories to draw from for my novels. Places like the Temple of Wind resemble places I’ve actually been.
You do have some beautiful spots. Sometime I’ll show you the picture I took of a rainbow while flying 31,000 feet over Idaho.

We’ve only traveled to see family for a long time now. No adventures. These made me want a road trip, but not this year. Great pictures and great memories for you.

Beautiful pictures, Joan! I’m glad I’m not the only one who takes that many on vacation:) I loved our trip to Alaska, the beauty was amazing. I spent this week searching through my pictures too for a cover. Took me a while but found that shot of a campfire I was looking for a short story. I got a bit distracted with memories at times. Have a good weekend.
I got sidetracked with my photos as well. Didn’t find what I wanted for the covers, but the trip down memory lane was worth it.
Aren’t digital photos wonderful? I remember the days when I would take a max of three or four rolls of film and hope for the best!
