Not far from my home is a local park where locals often gather to watch their kids play soccer. There are also tennis courts, picnic tables, outdoor grills, and even a covered pavilion that can be used for large gatherings. The park has several walking trails, one of which circles the perimeter of a small lake. Tall pine trees grow on either side of the path and there are a few deciduous trees that produce beautifully colored leaves in the fall.

It’s one of my favorite places to walk. I used to go there frequently, most often with my camera. Early mornings and late afternoons afforded some amazing photo opportunities. The park also served as the inspiration for the opening scene in my WIP, Unclear Purposes, the third and final book of my Driscoll Lake series.

My husband’s birthday was on Monday, so we both took a couple of vacation days. We went to see the new Denzil Washington movie, Equalizer 2, followed by dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Nice to have a short work week.

And now it’s time for this week’s writing links. Sorry the list is short but I haven’t spent a lot of time on the Internet this week.

    • Nicholas, yes I took this at the park a few years ago. It’s a great place to go just to relax. There is also a larger nature preserve nearby with miles of walking trails. Used to go there a lot before my knee problems. I miss it, but I’ll get back someday!

  1. I love the picture, Joan. It’s beautiful. Glad you’ve had a nice week. My fiance and I went to the registry office yesterday to give the official notification of marriage. We went for a pub meal afterward, so all in all it was a lovely afternoon/evening. Have a great weekend. 🙂

  2. Oh, Joan. That photo is lovely. I used to go to a small lake in Pennsylvania and just soak in the nature. Now that I’m in Arkansas, I seldom go. And I should. There are two lakes a short distance from me. I think you’ve inspired me to do that.

Hope your hubby had a nice birthday. Sounds like a wonderful long weekend.

  3. The lake sounds lovely (and the photo is gorgeous). I wish I had something similar around here for walking. Happy belated birthday to your husband.I hope you both enjoyed your time together 🙂

  4. It’s healthy for all of us to take a moment and enjoy the beauty around us. I try to take a day and enjoy the scenes like you did. I did that a lot when my kids were little. Now I have to remind myself that that the lakes and mountains are still there.

    Beautiful picture. Thanks!!

I love hearing from readers. Let's talk!
