I’m still trying to get back into the swing of blogging. Amazing what taking a few weeks off will do. Some of you might know I was home with the flu for over a week. (Yes, I took a flu shot, but the CDC got it wrong this year.)
Anyway, I’m back on the day job this week and **trying** to get back into a writing mode. Our weather has been rather mild of late with lots of pretty sunshine. I took this photo on my way home a couple of days ago. I can already tell our days are getting longer.
Can I say I’m looking forward to summer? But for now, here are this week’s writing links:

I don’t blame you for wanting summer. Hubby and I are the same way. We’re now on our 5th virus of the season, grrr. I had the flu shot, but like you, still caught it. I hope you feel better soon. Have a lovely weekend, and thanks for sharing the links, Joan 🙂
Harmony, you have had it rough this winter. I would still take the flu shot – CDC only gives their best guess as to shat strains go around. Somehow they missed it this year. Hope you’ve seen the last of the illness. Have a wonderful weekend!
It really is ‘shat’ strains!!! OMG, thanks for that giggle, Joan … so glad it’s not just me with the funny typos! Tee he hee 🙂
Reblogged this on: https://harmonykent.co.uk/week-in-review-4/, and commented, ‘Joan Hall has some useful writing links in her weekly roundup today >>>’
Thanks for the reblog, Harmony!
I hope you are feeling better now, Joan. I had flu when we came back from Finland in 2018 and it was too awful. I had to work and I could barely sit on my chair. A lovely selection of posts.
This was what I’d call a “mild” case. Last time I had flu (in the late 90s) was horrible. I can’t imagine how you were able to work with having it. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for the SE links.
You bet, Craig!
I’m glad you’re on the mend after being down with the flu, Joan. What a way to start the year!
That’s a gorgeous photo, and like you I am looking forward to longer days. Yesterday I woke to 16 degrees, but tomorrow our high is going to hit 61. And did I mention we still have snow on the ground? Crazy, LOL!
What a pretty picture, Joan:) Yes, the days are feeling longer already. Glad you are feeling better, I still avoid the flu shot.
As a healthcare worker, I’m required to get the shot (or wear a mask from October to March). This was the first time for me to get the flu since the late 90s, so I can’t complain.
I won’t want to wear a mask. The shot is a better alternative! I did the same thing it had been over 20 years for me until i got the flu this last spring. Not a bad record, I agree. Wow what a temperature change!
It’s been cold today. Didn’t get out of the 30s.Good day for staying indoors.
Our weather is crazy here. Yesterday it was in the 70s, today we won’t get warmer than the 40s. Yes, I’m looking forward to summer.
Welcome back. Terrific links.
Thanks, John. Coming back after a long break isn’t easy.
I could imagine.
Glad you are rid of that nasty flu bug. I hate being down with anything.
I know what you mean about getting back into the blogging grove after taking time off for the holidays and NaNo. Glad to see you back.
That was not how I wanted to start the new year! But both I and the hubs are better now. Could have been worse. Now to get my writing mojo back.
Glad you’re back on your feet, Joan. It seems the CDC gets it wrong almost every year. 🙂 Thanks for the weekly recap!
Guess I’ve been lucky. The last time I got the flu was the late 90s. I work in a hospital and although I’m not around patients a lot, that’s still a pretty good record.
So happy to hear you’re feeling better, Joan! And I just wanted to say once again, how much I love weekly recaps. I save every single one of them, and do try to check out the posts I’ve missed. Lately, that’s been way more than I like, but like you, I had to step back from blogging a bit for health reasons. Now, I’m playing catch up, and you’ve given me some great topics to look into!
Here’s hoping you are done with the flu and any other stray “bugs” going around. I’m thinking 2020 is going to be a great year, and feeling good should be part of that! 🙂 <3
Thank you, Marcia! I’m declaring 2020 to be a good year. All in all 2019 was better for us than 2018.
