Hey y’all. Today in place of WIP Wednesday, I’m excited to host friend and fellow author, Harmony Kent. She has a brand new soon to be released book and is here to talk about it today. Guarantee this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. Harmony, take it away!

Hi, everyone. Harmony here. Many thanks to Joan for hosting me today. I have a new book on pre-order called FALLOUT, which is a post-apocalyptic dystopia. This novel started out life by playing a little game. I sat and closed my eyes and imagined an empty room ā€¦ in that room, a vial appeared. A dull orange plastic thing covered in scratches. It sloshed when I shook it. From that tiny beginning, the world of Exxon 1 and its deadly virus was born.

Will they ever find a cure?

How many more people must suffer and die?

How could Ellie keep these people like this?

Excerpt

Ellie finished her brew. ā€˜Did you see the holding area for the infected?ā€™

ā€˜No.ā€™

ā€˜Would you like to?ā€™

ā€˜Iā€™m not sure like is the word Iā€™d use, but ā€¦ sure.ā€™

The two women rose to their feet. Ellie talked while they walked, ā€˜We gave them shelter, or as much as we could, in the hope weā€™d have a chance to cure them.ā€™ She shrugged. ā€˜With the lack of space, we couldnā€™t segregate them from one another. And, well, some fatalities were inevitable.ā€™

Priya blanched, understanding the violence left unsaid. Experience had shown her all too well how far people fell once the virus had them. The smell reached her first. Then the cacophonyā€”moans and groans, yells and screams, and more animalistic noises such as growls and snarls. The hairs on her neck prickled. Worst of all, though, was the sight. Not a single thing so far could have prepared her for the appalling spectacle that waited just around the corner.

Blurb

WHEN EVERYTHING FALLS APART, WHAT CAN YOU DO?

The year is 3040.

The location is Exxon 1, part of a six-planet system in settled space.

Determined to avoid the mistakes of old Earth, the surviving humans avoided democracy and opted, instead, for a non-elective totalitarian system.

The new way worked well, until now.

A crazy, despotic president releases a nano-virus on the population.

No one was ready for the fallout. It came anyway.

In this post-apocalyptic world, can you stay safe?

Author Bio

After spending around thirteen years as an ordained Buddhist monk, living in a Zen Buddhist temple, and six years after a life-changing injury following a surgical error, Harmony Kent returned to the world at the tender age of forty.

Now, she is famous for her laughter, and has made quite the name for herself ā€¦ sheā€™s also, um, a writer ā€¦ and fairly well known for that too. Sheā€™s even won a few awards. Harmony lives in rural Cornwall with her ever-present sense of humour, adorable husband, and quirky neighbours.

Harmony is passionate about supporting her fellow authors.

My Review:

Imagine yourself in the post-apocalyptic future after your world has been devastated by a virus. Add to that youā€™re in a place where no one can be trusted.

Thatā€™s what happens to Pryia, the MC in Fallout. Harmony Kent has done an excellent job at world-building and in creating multi-faceted characters where no one is as they seem. The plot is fast-paced, guaranteed to keep you on your seat and guessing until the end.
