During October’s Something Wicked Tour, you heard from C. S. Boyack’s spokesperson, Lisa Burton about his latest release, Viral Blues. Having read and enjoyed The Hat, I was eager to read this one and learn more about the adventures of Lizzie and The Hat.
Blurb:
Someone knows about the hat. The creature from another dimension that helps Lizzie fight against the creatures of darkness.
They are summoned to a cryptic meeting with a secret society, where they meet other people with enhanced skills. It turns out someone, or something, has been tampering with the world’s vaccine supply. The goal doesn’t appear to be political or financial, but biblical pestilence.
Can this group of loners come together in time to make a difference when even the proper authorities are obstacles?
Check out Viral Blues, for your dose of paranormal adventure, with a strong sample of dark humor. And in recent superhero style, don’t miss the secret last chapter after the back material.
My Five Star Review:
Lizzie and The Hat are Back…
And this time they bring a cast of characters with them. Fans of C. S. Boyack’s work will recognize several characters— including Jason Fogg, Gina Greybill, Mohan Gupta, and my favorite, Lisa Burton.
Someone has tampered with the world’s vaccine supply and this mixed group band together to stop whoever is responsible.
The action is fast paced and the storyline highly imaginative and entertaining. Throw in a little music and you have the elements to keep you turning the pages.
A note about ratings. I consider three stars and above as positive reviews. I reserve five stars for books that keep me turning the pages and that I would read again. (Yes, I’ve been known to do that.)
5 Stars: Awesome story! Couldn’t put it down – Highly recommend.
4 Stars: The book kept me interested – Check it out.
3 Stars: It was okay. Not my favorite, but I didn’t dislike it enough to discontinue.
2 Stars: Book didn’t hold my interest, problems with the plot, characters, poor writing, etc.
1 Star: Don’t bother!

Great review for a great book, Joan. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks, Harmony! I love Lizzie and The Hat stories.
Thanks for saying so here.
Thank you, Joan. What a nice thing to find this morning, and glad you enjoyed the story. I’ll share this everywhere.
It was a pleasure to post my review. I intended to do it last month, until I decided to take the blogging break.
Yeah, but you met your word goals. A gap after all the promo could work in my favor, too.
I’m sort of exhausted from the writing push, so I’m giving myself a couple more days before I get back into it. No way I could do that all the time as long as I’m still working full time. The break from blogging was nice.
I understand that.

Viral Blues gets a bit of love today. It’s still a new book, and I hope some of you will check this out. Joan is an excellent author and you should check out her wares while you’re over there.
Thanks for the reblog, Craig!
I like to help a struggling author out.
I hope you had a great NoNoWriMo, Joan. Great to see you back with this super review.
It was a good month, Robbie. I’m still “recovering” so to speak.
Hope NaNo went well for you – looked like you were on a streak! I’m about halfway through this book and I’m having a ball with these characters.
Teri, I made it through with just over 50K words (more about that in tomorrow’s post). This is a fun and enjoyable book.
Great review. I throughly enjoyed this book, too:)
Thank you for saying so on this post.
I love Lizzie and The Hat stories. Having Lisa Burton was a nice addition.
Great review, Joan! I really enjoyed the story and all the characters! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Jan.
It was a fun story, Jan! Thanks for stopping by.
Nice to see Viral Blues getting some review blog love. I really enjoyed this one too, Joan, especially with that great mash-up of characters. Congrats to Craig!
Yeah, this was a fun story! Brilliant idea to bring in characters from other books.
Thanks, Mae. This was the first sequel I’ve written, and I may have gone a bit crazy. It was fun revisiting those existing characters, and they seemed to fit the roles I had for them.

Thanks for sharing, Traci!
Wishing you the best with this, Craig! So sorry I lost my copy in the switch of computers.
Thanks for stopping by, Traci. Switching to a new computer can be a lot of trouble!
Yes, and I’m going to be switching again in the future as this is an old computer.
Thanks for the reblog. Switching computers is always a pain. These days I’m all Apple, so I have some cloud backup.
I’m going to switch again in the future. Simply because this is a Windows 8.1 and not sure how long it will be operable with Windows 7 going out at the end of this month. I don’t know if I can save the books I have on Adobe or not. I seem to lose the permission in the transfer.
I think anything you bought on Amazon can be recovered through Amazon, but don’t quote me.
The problem is the Adobe Reader holds my Netgalley borrows. Once the time passes for me to download it, I can’t do so again without permission.
